CBT best practices for African school labs

Computer-based tests fail in school labs for boring reasons: images too heavy for the connection, theory papers mixed with MCQ auto-grade, and scores that never leave the exam tool.

Keep ownership with admin. A teacher should not be the only person who can start or stop an exam. SchoolKyber’s CBT direction is admin-operated (or a designated CBT admin) — that matches how most schools already run exam week.

Split question types honestly. MCQ can auto-grade. Theory and essay need a marker. Practicals and CA are often score entry, not a “smart exam.” Don’t promise one button for all three.

Plan for thin bandwidth. Stagger sittings. Keep question images small. Offline-friendly / low-bandwidth exam mode is the architecture we are aiming for; we will not claim a downloadable exam server until that binary exists.

The exam is not done until results hit the same pipeline as paper tests. If CBT scores sit in a separate export, you have built a second collation problem.
